Have you ever visited a Southern plantation? This short caravan will introduce you to Southwest Georgia and its plantations. You will learn about the life on a plantation and visit different types of plantations – from those owned by the wealthy to those owned by people trying to eke out a living for their family. Also you will be introduced to what is happening at current day plantations – research and hunting preserves.  You will also do much MORE – visit the Uncle Remus museum, tour two homes, see a plantation country store museum, dry camp at an old country store in operation for 90 years, consume some of their famous sausage and smoked pork chops, attend a folk-life play and have an opportunity for much MORE.

The caravan begins near Madison, GA at Hard Labor Creek State Park, one of 3 state parks we will visit. Our first meal will be some fine Southern eating at the famous Blue Willow Inn in Social Circle, Ga. Our final stop will be at Kolomoki Mounds State Park and will end with the final banquet at a present day quail plantation where we will have a sampling of quail and a pig roast as well as an opportunity to shoot skeet and see the hunting dogs that are trained there.

Come enjoy some new places, eat good Southern food and enjoy some Southern Hospitality. At the end of the caravan you may wish to continue the 75 miles to Havana, Florida and join the Big Bend Florida Club at their Havana Mainstreet National Rally beginning Thursday, March 26 and ending Sunday, March 29.
